Viktor & Rolf Perfume & Women's Fragrance

Viktor & Rolf is a Dutch fashion house based in Amsterdam. The titular designers are Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren, both born in 1969. They began to create fashion together after becoming friends while at Artez, the exclusive Arnhem Academy of Art & Design. It didn't take long for Horsting & Snoeren to realize they were a perfect fit and after winning a design prize in 1993 for their joint creations they decided to go for it and move to Paris to dedicate themselves to art and fashion. At first they only created couture pieces for women. Many of their projects and shows were more about making an artistic impact than creating clothes someone could actually wear. For example, their first fragrance was called Le Parfum (1996) but there wasn't actually any scent. Instead the premium-looking bottle was filled with water but was designed to be completely impossible to open.

Around 2000 Viktor & Rolf decided it was time to launch their brand on a larger scale and dropped the couture designs to focus on ready-to-wear collections for women, with clothes for men following just a few years later. Around the same time they launched the first and without a doubt biggest Viktor & Rolf perfume to date – Flowerbomb (2004) . This hand grenade-shaped perfume exploded onto the scent scene and made a real impact with it's mixture of florals, fresh and sweet notes. Even thought he name might suggest otherwise it is not strictly a flowery scent, even though jasmine, rose, freesia and orchid play an important part. Sparkling bergamot and fresh tea and patchouli blends with the flowers and gives that incredible sweet, warm and feminine scent that has charmed millions since the first release. Careful not to dillute what they had, Viktor & Rolf have focused on Flowerbomb in the following years, releasing special editions like Flowerbomb Extreme (2007), Flowebomb Fairy Tale (2013) and Flowerbomb Fireworks (2015).

It wasn't until 2014 that they unveiled a new fragrance; Bonbon. This sweet little piece came in a cute bottle in the shape of a piece of candy and focused on fresh and gourmet notes like sugary caramel, mandarin, orange and peach on a woody base. Viktor & Rolf have been resting on their laurels and continue to release new collections every year. Recent years have also seen a return to couture for this Dutch pair and we can't wait to see what they dream up next!
