Laura Mercier (with the birth name Michèle Mercier) grew up in Province, France. As a child she wanted to be a painter and ended up on at a design school as when she was 16. She did however change her mind fast and decided that she rather wanted to paint on people's faces than painting on a canvas. Laura started therefore on a beauty school in Paris, where she after graduation started working as a makeup artist. In 1985 Laura was invited to move to America to help start up the American Elle. While working as a freelance makeup artist for companies like Chanel and L’Oreal Laura was building a famous customer base including Madonna, Celine Dion, Sarah Jessica Parker and Julia Roberts.
In 1996 Laura Mercier Cosmetics was founded with the concept of making “the flawless face”. Laura has from the start selected all the colours, products and textures of the products herself, making the brand even more unique. Her big commitment to the brand has given Laura many awards for her products such as Allure’s 2003 Best Beauty Award for Courtisane Lip Colour and InStyle’s 2009 Best Beauty Buys included Tinted Moisturizer, Oil Free Foundation and Secret Camouflage.
Today Laura still works as a freelance makeup artist for some of the most famous women in the world, her product is sold in 1122 store in 27 different countries across the world. Her brand now includes cosmetics, skincare, body & bath and fragrances. She has also achieved big popularity in the younger audience, due to the big support from the widely popular youtuber/beauty guru community.
