Banana Republic Perfume & Women's Fragrance

Named after the quirky political society status where a country is unstable and largely dependent on one resource product, the brand of Banana Republic was founded in 1978 by an American couple in the sunshine state of California. It was originally known for selling clothing with a travel and safari themed and stood out from other fashion labels by selling their goods through ab eccentric, hand illustrated catalogue where the clothes often had accompanying fictional stories to go with them and deliberately spiced up their ranges. This proved to be a massive success as it generated the majority of the debut sales for this clothing giant, who made a name for themselves in men's and women's fashion for having themed decorations in their stores, often featuring authentic elements such as real jeeps and foliage as well as atmospheric elements such as fog and steam.

During this period of success, Banana Republic cemented themselves as one of the leading retailers for women's clothing – so much so that in 1983 they were bought for a tidy sum by Gap Inc, another large chain of women's fashion, who's intention was to rebrand Banana Republic as a more mainstream luxury women's clothing retailer. This meant that all the little quirky touches that made Banana Republic stand out from the crowd slowly became obscelete and replaced with more luxurious, but less unique items.

One such item was their collection of perfume and fragrances – one of the greatest contributors to the success of this clothing giant today. First released in 1995, the debut fragrance for women from Banana Republic was called “Banana Republic W” and still remains to be a best seller today with it's fresh, unintrusive fragrance that can be worn every day. Floral notes play a big part in the women's scent range and it is also interesting to note that most of the ranges that are released are mirrored for both men and women in their own versions.

The first ever scent released by Banana Republic was in fact unisex-themed "Classic," launched in 1995. The company continues to produce new fragrances for men and women and has expanded its fragrance line to include candles alongside their successful women's clothing ranges. The mission statement from Banana Republic reflects that their aims are carried through all the products that they produce.

“Banana Republic reflects an American sensibility with a positive and optimistic viewpoint. The timeless style captures a modern interpretation of classic fashion and its relaxed attitude expresses a comfortable and confident quality. The adventurous spirit of the line is built from its heritage in travel and living a life full of passion that is open to discovery.” Models such as Angela Lindvall and women celebrities like Zoe Saldana, Selma Blair and Jessica Alba are all huge fans of this clothing giant and we are sure that it will be a name that will remain popular for years to come.
