Acqua di Parma Perfume & Women's Fragrance

Acqua di Parma began in 1916 and is an italian purveyor of luxury products focused on scents and perfumed candles. The company got their start selling colognes in Parma, Italy and became known for their light and fresh fragrances. Their most well-known cologne, simply named Colonia, made Acqua di Parma a household name in Europe.

In the 1930's Acqua di Parma began using their now iconic bottles and boxes, round yellow “hat boxes” made by hand, making their scents instantly recognisable. Soon, people were flocking to buy the elegant Art Deco fragrances and as a result of this the company expanded into new areas. Most importantly, the company starting launching unisex fragrances.

Acqua di Parma is now known world-wide and even have a luxury spa resort in Italy. Despite their success they still create their products like they always have, making and assembling everything by hand and using only natural ingredients.

The first female fragrance to be released was the aptly named Profumo (1930), simply meaning perfume. Until the release of this product, the company had only released colognes for men. In 1999 Acqua di Parma unveiled a new series of scents for both men and women called Blu Mediterraneo. This line takes it cues from Mediterranean life and features local herbs, fruits and flowers. A great example from this collection is the fresh and light Bergamotto di Calabria (2010) with bergamot from southern Italy. Another modern creation for women is the lovely Magnolia Nobile (2009) which is of course based around magnolia flowers and the classic lemon note which has become the signature of Acqua di Parma.
