Tommy Hilfiger’s destiny was predictable when, as a young man, he started making and selling customized versions of the clothes he bought. After closing his store, The People’s Place, due to bankruptcy, Hilfiger rejected assistant positions at Calvin Klein and Perry Ellis to focus on his independent career. Finally in 1985 he founded the Tommy Hilfiger Corporation, presenting his menswear collection. Since then, the Tommy Hilfiger brand achieved worldwide success, being endorsed by celebrities such as Britney Spears, Snoop Dogg and Pete Townshend, and achieving the Menswear Design of the Year title in 1995 from the Council of Fashion Designers of America. After the acquisition from PVH Corp in 2010, Tommy Hilfiger expanded his distribution networks and reached over 90 countries throughout four continents.

Tommy Hilfiger’s fragrances are part of the brand’s growing portfolio. The first perfume, Tommy for Men, was released in 1995 and is one of the brand’s best-sellers together with Tommy Girl (1996). Tommy Hilfiger’s main mantra is to create clothing and fragrances that represent the genuinity of people, with a subtle twist. In this, for example, the male fragrances are all excitingly masculine with a tone of seductive simplicity. Men’s fragrances, such as Eau de Prep and Tommy Brights, represent this entirely, by blending notes of musk and amber with contrasting white pepper and juniper berries, respectively, adding that extravagant touch of mystery and curiosity to a man’s personality. Other notable perfumes for men are Loud and Freedom, to be worn with casual wear, to let the sweet rose scent of the first one and the bitter woody notes of the second one, to complete a man’s look.
