Giorgio Beverly Hills Cologne & Men's Fragrance

Fred Hayman and George Grant establish Giorgio Beverly Hills in 1961. It was an extravagant women’s fashion boutique where you could buy luxury brands which could be found nowhere else.

The service was next to none, you were met by a glass of champagne and if you wanted your purchases delivered to your home, it could be done next day in a Rolls Royce. The better customers would also get a thank you present, this was often Waterford crystal!

Once inside this lavish store, with trademark yellow and white striped awning, your significant other half could shop to her heart’s content while the men would relax, either in the billiard room, in front of the fire or at the bar.

The location was prime, although when it opened there was only a grocer, a gas station and a hardware store at this address, but Fred saw the potential as it was close to the Beverly Hilton Hotel where the rich and famous often stayed. The corner of Dayton Way and Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills, California was soon to become a hotspot, celebrities such as Elizabeth Taylor, Frank Sinatra, Natalie Wood, Princess Grace, Ronald Reagan, Nancy Reagan, Diana Ross and Charlton Heston would often shop here, and in the mid 70s other big brands decided to set up shop here (Gucci, Van Cleef & Arpels and Vidal Sassoon was among the first). Today Rodeo drive is an international fashion centre and tourist flock here.

The signature scent of Giorgio Beverly Hills is Giorgio Beverly Hills or Yellow as it is also called. It is a female fragrance that is so powerful that it was banned in certain restaurants in Beverly Hills. The women loved it however and it is still one of the best selling female fragrances today.

You will find quite a few scents for men as well; Ocean dream for men from 1996 is a fresh cologne with notes of grapefruit, sage and musk. Giorgio Pour Homme (1984) is the counterpart to the female scent Yellow, with the signature yellow and white stripes on the box. It is a woody fragrance with notes of sandalwood, cedar, honey and vanilla. Red for Men is another woody fragrance with classic notes of patchouli, oakmoss, amber and leather. Wings for men from 1994 is a fresh fragrance with top notes of lavender, green notes, neroli, bergamot and lemon.
