Bvlgari Cologne & Men's Fragrance

Created towards the end of the 19th century, the luxury Italian clothing and men's cologne and aftershave giant Bvlgari continues to be a market leader of their renowned products today. Although the founder, Sotirios Voulgaris originated from Greece, the Bvlgari name is his surname translated in the Italian language, where the brand was first established in 1877. The first store was opened in Voulgaris' home town of Paramythia, Greece and then expanded to Rome in 1884 where he opened his second shop in via Sistina before eventually this was replaced by the current flagship store in via dei Condotti, which was opened in 1905 with the help of his two sons.

Bvlgari first expanded internationally with stores in several key cities during the 1970s. For many years the company held a prestigious showroom in New York's 'The Pierre Hotel' which is a large luxury hotel facing Central Park in New York. During the 1980s, the then CEO decided he wanted to diversify what Bvlgari had to offer and subsequently they branched out into men's accessories such as belts, wallets and other small leather goods made out of the finest materials with their unmistakable design. In order to stand out from the crowd, Bvlgari focus on ensuring that their jewellery design is distinctive, often with bold, architectural designs. They are also renowned for featuring coloured stones in unique formats and genuine Bvlgari pieces have a unique serial number that is registered with the company.

The growing success of this men's fashion and fragrance giant is largely down to their 300 strong stores spread all over the world, located predominantly in the most exclusive shopping areas in the world. The largest store is 10-story high and situated in the Bulgari Ginza Tower, Tokyo with 940 square meters of retail floor space, including it's own restaurant and bar. During the early 1990s it was decided that Bvlgari could offer greater things than just men's fashion and accessories and therefore the first aftershave just for men was called 'Bvlgari Pour Homme' and created in 1996.

The first fragrance from Bvlgari was in fact released in 1992 and was controversially designed as a unisex fragrance, entitled 'Eau Parfumee au The Vert'. Following the successful sales of this fragrance, Bvlgari have since released a number of unisex fragrances as well as several for men and women individually. One of the first colognes for men was simply entitled 'Bvlgari Pour Homme' (1996), the male version to complement the release of the everyday perfume for women 'Bvlgari Eau Fraiche' (1997) and boasted a woody, green, aromatic scent that was perfect for everyday wear. Other popular ranges for men that have been released include 'Aqva Pour Homme', Bvlgari Man and one of the newest scents 'Aqva Amara' (2014).
